I visited this spa with a friend during our stopover at Incheon. The facilities there were great, however the service and employees there were terribly unprofessional. We were not given any information about what was included in the basic price and what was not, except we were told we could use the spa and rest. My friend thought this meant she could use a private sleeping closet which she had found open and unlocked with no attendant nearby. Apparently this was not the case, which would have been fine if they had simply explained this to her, except instead somebody woke her up by screaming angrily at her in korean. When she asked them (in English, since she doesn’t speak Korean) to tell her what she had done wrong, the worker just kept yelling at her in korean and kicked her out!
Later, I went out to the mixed lounged at the time we had arranged to meet but didn’t see her there. Unaware of what had happened, I assumed she was still sleeping, so I decided to let her rest while longer. About an hour later, while I was relaxing on one of the reclining chairs, I noticed several men undressing and walking around completely naked in the mixed lounge area. This was around 10 am, and there was no one working in the lounge at that time. I went to the front desk to tell someone about it, but there was no one there either at that time.
Around 11:30 I went back to the front desk to ask the worker there to check on my friend and see if she was still sleeping. She went back to the women’s locker room, and she was apparently told by the other worker that my friend had left. Sure enough, my friend’s key was checked back in at the front desk. At that point, I decided to check out and go look for her, but as I was leaving I was told I was supposed to pay extra. When I asked her why, she said it was for the water or juice I drank in the lounge. I didn’t even try to hide my anger as I protested very loudly that I didn’t drink any water or anything! After that, she quickly glanced at her computer screen again then apologetically backed down. She apologised again, seeing I was still visibly upset as I was leaving. I accepted her apology and then walked away to find my friend.
I ended up missing lunch as I was looking for her and trying to page her in the airport. I finally caught up with her shortly before her flight to Amsterdam, though we were both sad that we missed the chance to spend valuable time together since we live in different parts of the world and might not be able to meet each other in person again for years, if ever. I think I speak for both of us when I say Spa On Air ruined our trips through Incheon International Airport, and the manager of that spa should be severely reprimanded if not fired.
wow. It is really good to hear your feedback about Spa On Air and I am shocked to hear of their extreme unprofessionalism. It seems as if the workers treat the “Spa” as a run of the mill “Jjim jil bang” in the countryside, and not the internationally focused, luxury spa they claim it to be. Unfortunately, it seems as if their customer service doesn’t match their design and intention and this is severely disappointing. I suggest you contact the manager and see if there is anything they could do somehow help you. In the meantime, we might update our post with some of your comments if that is ok.
Hi — The post and comment are very informative, thanks. I have a 15-hour layover in the Seoul airport coming up this weekend and I would love to be able to spend quite a bit of this time at the spa. I wonder whether the communication problems described have been addressed or resolved. Have you heard any more about this? Also, do you know about how much the services cost in dollars? Thanks!
We have been trying to find a website for this “Spa on AIr” and have been unsuccessful. Would like more details and costs for the sleeping rooms and showers. Can anyone help me find this information?
Costs for one day visits are currently priced at about 15,000 KRW or the day and 32,000 KRW for a private sleeping room for the night. Reservations for the private can be made via telephone within 24 hours of your reservation date/time. You can reach Spa on Air via the Incheon International main telephone line.
