Seoul’s Youngdeungpo neighborhood will be revitalized by the new Times Square Mixed-Use (hybrid) Shopping Center. Times Square is planned to be 330,000㎡ making it more than twice the size of Seoul’s COEX underground shopping center. The site will be composed of an inner and outer mall as well as two high-rise office buildings.
So far retail giants Shinsegae Department Store and Emart have been confirmed as future tenants with Shinsegae Department Store also planning to open a separate luxury store for high-end retailers. In addition, Kyobo Book Store, CGV Multiplex (Cinemas), and Kyeongbang Department Store are planning to open there. Japan’s, SEGA is also planning to build a massive game park at the center as well.
Marriott Hotels is also engaged in plans to 15-story, 283-room hotel at the site as well. This area, currently one of the poorest in Seoul in regards to design and aesthetic will be further transformed as the nearby neighborhoods of Shindorim and Daesung are also planning massive redevelopment projects that include the Shindorim Technomart and Daesung D-cube city, which is being led by Jerde Partnerships of the US, the same group that led the Roppongi Hills project in Tokyo, Japan.
